Knee Pain is often described as

Treatment for Knee Pain?

Is often first focused on controlling inflammation and breaking the inflammatory cycle.

Is walking good for Knee Pain?

Yes.

Gentle forms of exercise are always encouraged to your tolerance.

Restoring range of motion to the knee joint is important and pumping the synovial fluid and blood around the joint can be a great way to encourage healing.

Most health professionals will recommend 15-45mins on a stationary bike 3-5 times weekly to help rebuild range of motion and general strength in the knee.

What can I do to Relieve my Knee Pain?

  • Try 20 mins of heat packs on your knee.
  • Stretching your front and back of legs as well as calves
  • Have a hot bath or spa to keep them warm.
  • Consider the type of shoes you are wearing.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.

When should I worry about my knee pain?

You shouldn’t speak to your health care provider.

How to diagnose Knee Pain?

During a sports chiropractic examination patient will be examined from top to bottom.

Full spine check – Hips Knees and Ankles.

A full biomechanical assessment is the best approach to obtain an accurate diagnosis.

A specific knee assessment will be done with orthopaedic and gait testing.

With knees the location of the pain give us some huge clues as to the injured tissue.

Potential causes of knee pain.

Anterior knee pain:

  • Patello-femoral pain
  • Patella tendinitis
  • Patella dislocation
  • Anterior cruciate ligament injury

Posterior knee pain:

  • Knee joint effusion
  • Hamstring tendinopathy

Lateral knee pain:

  • Iliotibial band syndrome
  • Lateral meniscus damage
  • Lateral collateral ligament injury

Medial Knee pain:

  • Patellofemoral Syndrome
  • Medial meniscus injury

What can cause Knee Pain without Injury?

  • Referred pain from the hip and ankles.
  • Being overweight
  • Could be a sign of underlying arthritis

Is it normal for my Knee to click and pop?

Yes very normal.

Joint clicking is quite normal just like grey hair and wrinkles.

A clicking joint that is accompanied with alot of pain and discomfort is not normal and worth seeking the advice your health care provider.
